Welcome to the Good News feedback and support forum. Found a bug? Got suggestions? Tell us what you think! Apologies for not being able to answer all your messages. But be assured that we consider all of them.

Before posting your idea please try to make sure that there’s no existing similar thread. Currently I can’t merge them and have to decline duplicates.

Many Thanks. Daniel.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Allow others to see *your* view and not default when you share.

Sharing the link only sends them to a new user's default screen. Not really sure why, but I want to share *my* chosen stream of content with my team at work. How to do this??

Thanks for your message. Apologies for the delayed answer.

If you send someone the URL from your browser’s address bar they will always arrive at the sign up screen. Currently the only way to share news is to post it into your favorite social network’s activity stream by using the small Share icon on the top right of every news story in Good Noows.

The feature I think you are looking for is actually planned! I want to enable users to share their whole Good Noows stream – their personal newspaper if you will – with their peers. But this is not yet possible.

  2. Add additional filter capabilities

I have been using iCurrent as a news aggragator. You can enter specific sources and/or topics or a combination of them to filter content that you want. Can you add a feature that will filter a site based on specific topics? If I want to read Business Week, but only articles on Social Media, a filter would only give me those articles.

Thanks for your message. Apologies for the delayed answer.

Great idea. Something similar is actually planned but I am afraid I wont be able to release such features soon. For now if Businessweek doesn’t offer a separate feed for Social Media, you can only follow their whole technology section, maybe in a separate topic, and filter your stream utilizing the search filter on the top right side of Good Noows. There you can also create tags. Another way would be to create a Google Alert for businessweek.com for the keyword Social Media and add the Google Alert feed to your Good Noows stream ( see http://alerts.google.com). Sorry, only workarounds, I know.

  3. give yourself a round of applause

I just want to thank you for creating a real, viable alternative to Google Reader.

  4. Aggregate similar items

If you follow a lot of news sources that have some overlap in the topics covered, it would be nice to get similar news items grouped together.

  5. Change to two column view

There is a lot of news to go through. Can you add a 2 column block visual view?

  7. Unread items counter for each category (custom ones too)

It would be a real boost in UI to have an unread items counter near each category name (even the custom ones) + a small color/highlight customization panel to set the border of the unread items after each user preferences (or something similar on this idea).

  10. night mode (white on black)

I would like to read news in bed on a dark background.
A good example is the Pulse news reader for the iPad by Alphonso Labs.
