Customizable Themes
Hey first off: Great site!
Now, I wonder if it would be possible to offer settings for the existing themes, especially for people with big screens.
So for example I have a feed where I mainly take a look at the images. The glossy magazine has 7 items per row on my screen which makes it kinda hard to skim through.
Choosing "blog blocks" makes it better but then it's quite big.
For me then in this case "glossy magazine" with 4 items would be ideal.
I know it may sound snobbish but if it's not too hard to implement…2 votes -

Signing in every day sucks
Almost every time i click on my link I have to sign in - other times I just click on my favourites and up comes my feed - why cant this be consistent?
2 votesHmm, you should stay logged in pretty much forever. It happens that your session gets destroyed when we make a deploy but if you have to sign in every day then something is wrong.
Is your browser configured to clear cookies/cache regularly or every time you close it?
Which browser and operating system are you using?
Which sign-in method are you using with Good News (Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, direct email/password sign-in)?
Thanks!

put most read topics/feeds at the top
When you click on a feed it should keep track of the feed or key words in the feed so when new items related to it comes out they will be shown first
2 votesThanks. We are planning to recommend articles to you that might interest you and also to give you the option of sorting your news stream accordingly – based on what you have read in the past and based on other factors. But we’re not there yet. Please bear with us. Cheers.

mp3s can be played within goodnows directly
..i love this feature in netvibes
2 votesGood idea.
Do you have by any chance a feed/cast URL that has mp3s in it’s items on a regular basis?

Ability to collapse categories
Clicking the name of a category on the left sidebar should collapse that tab. People with a lot of subscriptions will want to collapse to the original state to navigate without wasting time scrolling.

add the possibility of showing source filters in the left menu
Basically, have the source filters displayed in the left menu, similar to Google Reader. This would limit the amount of clicking needed to view specific sources within the same folder/grouping.
2 votesI like the idea. I’ll work on this asap but need some time to figure out a polished user interface (better than Google Reader’s)

'Frontpage' with latest news in categories
I would like to start the app on 1 page with the latest news from multiple categories (maybe 6 or 9 blocks and the ability to scroll down).

Replace OPML collection or 'delete all categories'
I would like to be able to replace my OPML collection without having to delete each category.
Or said otherwise: I would like to be able to remove all categories by one simple click.

Have an option for non-category specific views
It would be really neat if there was something you could do to set all your categories to the same view without going through and clicking each one. the site is great i love it! keep up the awesome!

ideas
1-give the possibility to set as "unread" all (as the "set all read" one)
2-give the news publication date and time
3-give the "default" set of sources to other nationality too not only for the english speaking people (as the original google news do)
4-thank you for your awesome work!1 vote1 – Yes, I plan to do that. There is a separate idea here in UserVoice somewhere. Please feel free to vote, to push it’s priority.
2 – Good idea, will look into that.
3 – We have default sources sets for EN, DE, ES, FR, IT, depending on which language you first register with. I’m working on a PT version. The main problem for me with other languages is that it’s hard to identify and find valid, frequently updated feeds with sufficient content from popular non-English written publications. Please feel free to suggest any!
4 – Thanks! -
Sometimes empty entries with Twitter RSS
You cannot add Twitter streams to Good Noows anymore, so I searched for another option. I found a solution. You can add a Twitter feed as a RSS feed beginning with https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/usertimeline.rss?screenname= and after the = you add the Twitter username. Like this: https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/usertimeline.rss?screenname=cnnbrk
This normally works, and also with Good Noows, but sometimes I just get empty entries.

Mark as read - don't make it "light"
I would like that colors of articles that are read remain same as those unread, just change color (red?) of that small check mark!

Scrolling problems
Just a small problem when I'm scanning through headlines, and read an article, when I go back onto the headline viewer i find myself at the top of the list again
So I have to re-scan through all of the headlines again to find where I was before.
It'd be handy if the feed stayed in the position I left it when I go on an article

Read without sign in
I hope you can make pages readable without signing in because I have lots of stuffs to share ... Is it possible to provide a link like http://whatever ... and it works like a webpage (just like Google Reader) ?
1 voteHi there. Thanks for the suggestion. We are working on a feature that will allow users to share their whole news stream with other users. Also, you’d be able to make your news stream public, i.e. to be found and followed by others. However, we probably won’t be able to make anyone’s Good Noows persoanl news stream truly public, i.e. accesible to non-GN-users. This is due to copyright issues in some territories and conflicts with other features we’re planning.

an app, a real one.
please create a real app for this. this is the only one I found that doesn't force "top stories" down your throat.
